ABOUT CRYSTALP

CRYSTALP specialises in the production and trade of fashion jewellery and accessories, made exclusively with Swarovski crystals and high-quality metals. The company employs a young in-house design and development team, whilst also participating locally in an assembly work-based programme where local Austrian residents painstakingly set the crystals for each piece before going through a stringent quality control process within the factory itself.

All jewellery and accessory pieces are made from copper and brass-base metals, then are thickly plated with either a rhodium or gold alloy and rhodium mix with particular emphasis given to wear points – like the bottom of a ring. All jewellery has been tested as non-allergenic and is 100% nickel free.

JULY BIRTHSTONE: RUBY

July’s birthstone is the beautiful, timeless royal ruby – a very appropriate stone for July in the southern hemisphere, when we enjoy cosy, warm nights in front of the fire and winter weddings are filled with beautiful red and orange tones.

A ruby is named after the original Latin word, ‘ruber’, which means ‘red’. Its rich, unique colour has numerous mythical connotations in different cultures throughout the world. A few of these myths include:

Ancient Egypt – Symbolises longevity, health and happiness

Ancient Burmese – Protects warriors during battle

Buddhist – Referred to as the ‘tears of Buddha’, believing it to be a sacred sign of wisdom, good health and good luck

Sanskrit – Known as the king of all gemstones, the ruby is believed to bring peace and harmony, warding off evil and danger

Rubies are found mainly in Thailand, Sri Lanka and Cambodia and evokes a feeling of passion, desire and love – the perfect gift for your wife and an ideal unique alternative to traditional engagement rings, or even to add a touch of charm to your traditional wedding look.

Apart form being the official birthstone of July, rubies are also the official gemstone to celebrate 15th wedding anniversaries.

Make them fall in love all over again with Crystalp’s beautiful ruby-colouRuby ringred pieces for a birthday or special anniversary.

MISS EARTH SOUTH AFRICA 2016

Lisa Hager, owner and director of Crystal Forum, was recently invited to act as a regional judge at the Miss Earth South Africa 2016 Johannesburg casting event.

“Lisa always adds that sparkle and a touch of glamour wherever she goes and the judging was no different – we were honoured to have her,” said Ella Bella, Miss Earth South Africa Educational Officer and Project Coordinator.

The casting sessions consisted of an in-depth workshop session with 100 applicants from the region, where the ladies got to learn more about their role in the environment. The judging was followed by a visit from children from Meals on Wheels and the Renalola Care Centre, who were given sandwiches which the Miss Earth applicants had packed earlier in light of World Hunger Day.
